Right up North

Conservative Future news from the North East

Sunderland CF has been announced as branch of the month is this months edition of the National Newsletter.  This is because of the work that they have done to promote the electoral system and the process of voting amongst young people.  Its great to see that a branch in the North East region is being recognised for its work, especially one which is still fairly new.  Well done guys and keep up the good work!

There is a Regional Executive meeting on Wednesday 17th June.  If you have any issues that you would like to have raised at the meeting please contact either myself or your Branch Chairmen.

So after a very long day campaigning on Thursday we have had a fantastic set of results over the weekend both locally and nationally.  Our hard work has paid off and we got Lynda Arkley elected as Mayor of North Tyneside.  We also had a good result in the European elections getting Martin Callanan re-elected to represent us in the European Parliament.

May I take this opportunity on behalf of Lynda and Martin to thank everyone so much for the hard work, time and effort they have put in over the last few months.  Without the work that CF does it would make campaigning so much harder so your help is much appreciated.

I hope you all have a great summer.  We of course are not going to stop over the summer completely but we are going to have a well earned rest.  There are campaign days with Paul Bristow and in Hexham to look forward to.  Also, a few CFers and myself will be joining YBF and heading to Washington DC for two weeks to learn more about campaigning and to take part in some media training.

Dominic McDonough, Sunderland CF Chairman, today launched the ‘Youth Vote’ campaign in Sunderland.  The campaign which will be running throughout the Region will encourage young people to go out and vote in the European, Local and General elections.  Our campaign will take us into local schools, colleges and youth groups where we will emphasize the importance of voting as a young person and the links between voting and democracy.  Our aim is to try and instill the process of voting into young people so it becomes a habit that they will carry on into adulthood.  We will be discussing voting in general but of course will be communicating the Conservative message at the same time.

The launch today attracted the attention of the local media and a reporter joined us from the Sunderland Echo.  I will ensure to keep you all updated as to how this campaign is progressing.  Also, if you would like to join our campaign please feel free to contact either Dominic or myself.
