Conservative Future news from the North East

The second of our new CF branches has been launched in Sunderland.  The newly appointed branch Exec is as follows

Dominic McDonough – Chairman
Bezhan Salehy – Deputy Chairman (Political)
Elizabeth Robinson – Deputy Chairman (Membership and Fundraising)
Andrew Fawcett – Additional Officer (Resources)
James Halliday – Additional Officer (6th Form Relations)

The Conservatives are doing extremely well in Sunderland in terms of Council positions and we have great hopes for the PPC Lee Martin.  The creation of a new CF branch within Sunderland will draw on the success that Conservatives have already seen in Sunderland and will help the area go from strength to strength.

Sunderland CF branch, like Blyth Valley CF, is a non-University branch and will hopefully help in our attempts to galvanise Conservative activists who do not belong to an academic insitution.

In my attempts to reach young activists within the Region, the North East Region Exec have decided to create a position for a Graduate Officer.  This role would entail working with the branch chairman of non University branches and the Area Chairmen to ensure that Conservative supporters and activists who do not belong to an educational institution are included within all CF activities.

For more information and to highlight your interest in this position please email me at north.east@conservativefuture.com

CF Members in Blyth Valley have formally announced the formation of an acting CF branch for the area. Local Conservative Future members were joined by Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Blyth Valley, Barry said:

‘When selected by the members of Blyth Valley it was one of my main intentions to ensure we encouraged young people to get active within the Conservative Party.’

‘As somebody aged 26 myself, I have seen at first hand, the growth in the number of young activists within the North East, and I have been encouraged by the enthusiasm of our CF members in Blyth Valley as well as being impressed by the numbers getting involved.’

Blyth and Cramlington are not university towns so there is not the same level of CF infrastructure as in other parts of the North East. I am sure we can establish the CF branch in Blyth Valley for the long term.

With Town Council elections in Blyth Valley coming up it is the intention of Blyth Valley CF  to support the association to achieve a good set of results in June’

Blyth Valley Acting Executive.

Ali Ion – Chairman

Chris Wallis – Deputy Chairman (Political)

Daniel Fleming – Deputy Chairman (Membership and Fundraising)

Simon Hartland – Additional Officer

Aaron Spence – Additional Officer

The creation of Blyth Valley CF is the first of the three new branches planned for the region.  My aim when appointed Regional Chairman was to ensure that CF was not confined to just University areas and that all PPCs in the region have the support of at least one CF branch.  If anybody has any questions relating to Blyth CF, or would like to become a member, please contact me at north.east@conservativefuture.com

In the next couple of weeks Sunderland CF will also have its launch….watch this space!

Roger Helmer MEP will be travelling to Newcastle on the 6th March, at 1-2,  to provide Conservative activists and Politics students with the chance to hear him discuss his views of the European Union.  Roger Helmer is well known for his sceptical attitude towards the European Union and is looking forward to debating the EU’s role within Britain.

This event will be held at Northumbria University and is open too all Conservative activists from both Newcastle and Northumbria University.
